Dec 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) David Letterman had Penelope Cruz as a guest star on “The Tonight Show” last night. Of course, before he got around to the guest part of the show, he had a few clips making fun of “Sarah Palin”. In a piece of an interview that Sarah Palin did for Barbara Walters, Barbara asks her if she would go on David Letterman’s show. She answered, “Well I wouldn’t want to boost his ratings, however, I would like for him to help sell my book, so I hope he keeps it up!” I personally thought it was a hilarious comeback.

Penelope Cruz came on stage in a long, straight black dress looking beautiful. She won an academy award around eight or nine months ago. She said she was so nervous that she only remembers part of it. She was so afraid she was going to have a panic attack, and then after she won, she was so happy that she cannot remember much more. She said that now she works so much harder because she feels that she should, and does not feel like she has gotten “lazy” since winning. David laughed that he would most likely slack off after he had won. She then went on to say how much she enjoys being able to work as an actress both in her own language and English, but that she does movies in many different languages, although she is not fluent in those other languages.

Penelope spoke of her experience in making the new movie,”NINE”. She tells how she got many blisters on her hands from the rope work that she did for this movie. David asked her if she was engaged, and she said she did not feel comfortable talking about that. She said she will not lie about her personal life, because it is sacred, it is her life, but she did not want to talk about it.

The next guest, John Cada, won over eight million dollars in the World Series of Poker. He is only 21 years old. When David asked him how long he had been playing professionally, it was shocking to learn that it has only been about 5 years. He added that his mom was not thrilled when she found out this was his choice to do. He grew up playing with his friends just for fun. When asked what he would do with the money, he said he had not decided yet, but that he would invest a lot. He said he will try to repeat the win next year, but knows it is a long shot.

A band called “The Script” then performed to end the show. Their new CD has the same name, “The Script” . They are from Dublin.
