Dec 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Some people would make all desperate attempts to transform stone into gold. However, after a few humiliating failures, most of them decide to give up. But definitely the troupe of ‘Spider-Man, Turn Off The Dark’ is not one of them. It is time that the most expensive show in Broadway history, should be renamed as “Most DANGEROUS show in Broadway history”, as for the third time, an artist has been injured. This time it was at the first preview on Sunday night. Once again the accident is attributed to the callousness of the technical team and technical malfunctioning.
This accident is making several people skeptical about the technical accomplishment of the theatrical group, who despite knowing all their blemishes are going on making attempts to make the drama a big success. To most of the people, this seems to be unrealistic and illusive. Natalie Mendoza, who plays Arachne, was injured on her head with a heavy rope during the preview. However, three days after her injury, she resumed with her rehearsals on Wednesday, but soon she fell ill and could not perform further. Sources said that she has been diagnosed with a concussion and will be out of the show for another week. She has been substituted with Playboy cover model America Olivo, for the time being.
Natalie Mendoza marked the third serious accident on the stage of the much hyped theater. About a month ago, during a presentation for ticket agents, another aerial artist Kevin Aubin broke his wrists, followed by the foot fracture of the second one. The New York State Department of Labor has declared that if an accident or equipment malfunction continues then they need to be notified. They have also made changes to prevent further accidents and would follow up regularly to assure the adequacy of their modification.
