Dec 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a latest development, a resident of Illinois who was stalking an ESPN reporter named Erin Andrews has confessed his crime. The man was also involved in posting her images on the web and selling them. The news has come from the federal authorities. The 48 year old Michael David Barrett confessed to the police that he did all these with the desire to cause mental distress to the ESPN reporter and put her to trouble. As a consequence, the man can land up in federal prison and get sentenced with a 5 year term.
However, the man was taken to the Los Angeles federal court as some of the crimes that he committed fell under the jurisdiction of Los Angeles federal court. He tried selling the videos of the reporter to a celebrity gossip site, the court records have revealed. It started way back in 2008. Barrett was in an adjacent room to Andrews in Ohio. He made use of a peephole and shot videos without the reporter being aware of the incident. He was able to shoot her nude postures. The video later on became a hot search on the Internet with the name “Erin Andrews peephole video”.
In September 2008 he committed the same act on Andrews in a hotel at Nashville. In fact seven out of eight such videos were shot at the hotel room in Nashville. Barrett works as an insurance executive in Illinois and he used to inquire at various hotels to find out where Erin was staying. He may have to pay up a hefty fine apart from the imprisonment.
