Oct 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) “The Oprah Winfrey Show” definitely became few of many viewers’ favorite things, when the whole cast of the classic “Sound Of Music” reunited in her show yesterday. The most exciting part was that, the entire cast reunited after several years, and probably for the first time since the premier of the film in 1965.

The show brought back several sweet memories of the film, which apparently faded away with time. The entire cast has grown four decade older, yet looked as captivating as before, as they recalled their memories. Christopher Plummer, who played Georg Von Trapp in the first and the most memorable, silver screen musical, “Sound Of Music”, shared that he was rather apprehensive to play his signature role, as his character lacked humor, life and was quite overshadowed by Maria. However, he could not solve the problem of Maria, and had to play the tyrannical father at the age of 34. He even came up with a nick name of the film as “The Sound of Mucus.” Julie Andrews, who played Maria, said that she was extremely nervous to meet Christopher Plummer, who was elder to her by five years, and was much more experienced and accomplished as an actor. However, she became quite comfortable with him. On the other hand, Christopher Plummer confessed a secret, that he had a crush on Julie Andrews ever since he saw her in “My Fair Lady”, and was damn exited about meeting her. However, all through out the shoot, he had to stay at arm length with the lady, or to be more specific, “full-length away from her”.

The seven Von Trapp Children were also present in the show. Charmian Carr, who played Liesl, the eldest child, said that she was 21 at that time, and had a huge fascination for her on- screen father, who taught her several dark secrets about alcohol. And the best thing she learned from her tyrannical father was, how to drink. The show stated that even after 45 years, the memories are still fresh in their minds.
