Oct 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The most awaited movie of the year, “The Social Network”, was released on Oct 1. The $40 million film has been directed by David Fincher, produced by Kevin Spacey, Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and Cen Chaffin under Relativity Media, Trigger Street Productions and Columbia Pictures. The movie runs for 121 minutes with the star cast of Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg, Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin, Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker, Brenda Song as Christy Lee.
The film is about, how the most popular social networking site, “Facebook”, came into existence, under the joint efforts and proprietorship of these college buddies. However, the reviews say that the story is based more on fiction than on realities. The way the protagonist, i.e Mark Zuckerberg has been portrayed is way away from the truth. After watching the film, his friends said, that he has always been a very good, honest, and a supportive person. However, the movie sketched him like a calculative opportunist and selfish proprietor, for whom, meeting his ambition was most important in life. The movie also says, that the friends plagiarized the ideas and design of Facebook, from their University’s personal dating website, which Mark Zuckerberg was supposed to develop on behalf of the students of the Harvard University. However, the owner of Facebook says, that the idea of Facebook was completely their brainchild.
As far as the movie is concerned, people gave a mixed reaction. It could not impress all the audience due to the irrelevant and unimpressive transition from one scene to the next one. However, the script was contemporary and youthful. But some critics say, that the director failed to portray the value, moral and ambition of this generation with less responsibility.
