clipboard015Dec.15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) NBC launched its new show - ‘The Sing Off’ on Monday night after the success of Glee. The Sing Off has eight different bands competing against each other in order to grab a recording contract estimated to be worth $100,000 with the company named ‘Epic Records’. These bands hail from various parts of the country and it is also being said that all the contestants have had their major exposures in colleges.

The show is being hosted by Nick Lachley and has Pussycat ‘Donc’ha Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me’ Doll, Nicole Scherzinger, as judges. Accompanying her is Ben Folds (the musician) and Shawn Stockman who had appeared in the Boyz II-Men. However, like every other reality show today, the main judges are the viewers who have the power to vote out the contestants. The first one to be voted out on Monday night was the band Face of Boulder’s, a ‘cappella group’ which performed in the first part of the show singing ‘Livin on a Prayer’ by Bon Jovi.

The other contestants on the show include Beelzebubs, (from Tufts) Nota (from San Juan), SoCal VoCals (University of Southern California), Maxx Factor (from Baltimore), Noteworthy (Brigham Young University), Solo (from Omaha) and Voices of Lee (Lee university, Cleaveland). Also, it does not have a major part of the air-time since it will only air on Dec 14-16 with its grand finale being scheduled on Dec 21. The show, however small, has already had its fair share of controversy when the band Beelzebubs had to negotiate for days before being allowed entry.
