“The Simpsons” Season 23 To Start Next Year

Nov 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Fox Television announced on Thursday that “The Simpsons”, the longest running cartoon comedy on the American Television will have its 23rd season too. This season is supposed to start on Fall 2011 Spring and continue till 2012. The 22 year old animated show which started on December 17, 1989, with its pilot Episode “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire” has come a long way. It has tickled the audiences with enough laughter and fun, although over the years the nature of its comedy has altered significantly, keeping in mind the changing taste of the people and the society. That is the reason why the show never lost its popularity, even at its current 22nd season.
The executive producer of the show Al Jean said that “The Simpson” is extremely happy to remain at home in Fox and hopes that it does not go out to the real world in many more years to come. Fox on the other hand has ensured that in the course of its 23rd season, the show will reach its 500th milestone, and can even go up to 515 episodes by the time it ends in 2012. With that it would fall behind to just two other shows, namely “Lassie” and “Gunsmoke”, who has exceeded 500th milestone with 588 and 635 episodes respectively. The show has made a mark of its own in the last 22 years.
The characters, namely Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie have won a total of 27 Emmy awards. The word “D’Oh!”has been incorporated in the Oxford English Dictionary. Even the Vatican’s official newspaper praises this show and said that both Homer and Bart Simpson were Catholics. The show is aired in more than 100 countries and is dubbed to more than 50 languages. It is one of the most popular shows amongst the cartoon lovers, who wishes the continuity of this show.
