The Secret of Dimple’s Ageless Beauty is Poker!

April 1, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): “If you insist on knowing why I look younger than my age then I’ll tell you. Its poker,” says Dimple poker-faced.
As usual Dimple starts off by grumbling she has nothing to say. And if you must know the reason why she does so little work it is because she isn’t offered anything substantial. “Do you really think I am good? Please write that in your column. There aren’t enough good scripts. It’s not as if I’m flooded with offers. Whoever approaches me I do their film. Besides…I am lazy! There you finally got the honest truth out of me! I did Tum Milo To Sahi with Nana Patekar because I loved the script. I honestly need good scripts and directors. I just hope it happens soon.”
She perks up while talking about her new release Tum Milo To Sahi. “Bahut pyar se Kabir Sadanand ne film banaaya hai. It was very interesting, and was done with a lot of love. Every scene is a labour of love. This is a film I’m very proud of. I loved my role. And so what if the director Kabir Sadanand made me look older on screen than I look in real? That’s how I saw my character.”
So the next question? How does Dimple manage to look so young?
She ponders over that one while waiting for lunch to arrive on the sets of Society. “Let me think of the formula. I sleep at 4 pm and get up at 2 am. No I’m just kidding. I’ve no clue as to why I look the way I am. People feel I look younger than my age. I don’t feel that way. I think all my contemporaries are glowing these days. If you still insist I look younger than my contemporaries then it could be because I play poker, the others don’t. That’s the secret.”
Then she says with a loud sigh, “I don’t know how you expect me to talk about myself. It’s so vain and self-obsessed. I can’t be like that. And you should really respect me for that. For being the person that I am.”
Dimple says she enjoyed working with Nana Patekar in Tum Milo To Sahi. “The last time we worked together was Kranti-veer. It was wonderful meeting up with him again. It’s great working with Nana. When he’s around on camera I don’t have to think about anything. He does all the thinking. Kahan se aana hai, kya karna hai…We met after so many years. The reason I haven’t kept in touch with colleagues is because I don’t like imposing my attention on anyone.”
