‘The Road’ Release Shifts To 25th Nov

Nov. 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The release date of the Movie ‘The Road’ has been pushed back again with the release date being, 25th Nov 2009. The makers have however released yet another trailer on the last day of October, 2009.
The movie is directed by John Hillcoat and is based on the novel written by Cormac McCarthy, which also has the same name as the movie does. Cormac is also the author of ‘No Country For Old Men’. Joe Penhall has done the screenplay for “The Road”, that spans the adventure/ drama/ thriller/ sci-fi genre.
The plot of the movie shows a man along with his son walking through an America road that has been burned and charred, where nothing moves except the ash that covers every visible ground including land and water too. The duo are headed towards south where it is warmer, not knowing what lies in wait there. To defend themselves they carry a pistol, and to survive-a food filled shopping cart.
John Hillcoat was nominated in the Venice Film Festival for the Golden Lion award for ‘The Road’. However, the movie “Lebanon” won a Golden Lion and Colin Firth won the Best Actor for “A Single Man”. The movie was however given a mention for the best picture by the London Film Festival’s jury members.
“The Road” was filmed in Oregon, Loisiana and Pennsylvania. It stars Viggo Mortensen playing ‘the man’, Kodi Smit-McPhee playing ‘the boy’, Charlize Atheron playing the Wife, Guy Pearce playing the father with the family, Robert Duvall playing the dying-old man and Michael K. Williams in the role of the thief.
