Sep 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rev Al Sharpton has formed his own media company, and will be using it to launch a new syndicated Sunday morning show on television, a thirty minute time slot called “Education Superhighway”, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Al Sharpton is a well known but very controversial civil rights advocate who is expected to unveil his new show on Thursday morning during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 40th Annual Legislative Conference. KCOP in Los Angeles has already cleared it, along with 149 other markets.
ESH Holdings, the media company which was named with Sharpton’s initials will be producing the show and printing a magazine to accent it. The show is expected to premiere on September 26, and will feature news and discussions which will mostly deal with education. Bill Gates, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Newt Gingrich, and Randi Weingarten-the president of the American Federation of Teachers are all expected to guest on the show.
Education Superhighway is not expected to be controversial, despite Sharpton’s reputation. He stated that if there is anything controversial about this show, it will be from those who “want education to remain mediocre.”
“If Newt Gingrich and I could tour the country together … at the request of President Obama, and they are like oil and water … then that shows that this is one issue that all Americans should unite over;” Sharpton stated. “Newt and I don’t agree on anything at all — not even that today is Monday — but we do agree that we have an education problem.”
