The Pogues Fairytale in New York is Britain’s favourite Christmas song

Washington, Dec 21 (ANI): The Pogues classic track Fairytale in New York is Britain’s favourite Christmas song, according to a new poll conducted by TV channel VH1.

The 1987 single featuring late singer Kirsty MACColl landed the top spot, pushing down the original Band Aid song Do They Know It’s Christmas? to second position.

Wham’s Last Christmas bagged the third place, while Slade’s Merry Xmas Everybody came fourth, reports Contactmusic.

The re-recorded charity single by Band Aid 20 came fifth and All I Want For Christmas is You by Mariah Carey was the sixth favourite.

Wizzard I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday and Bing Crosbys White Christmas stood seventh and eight respectively.

Happy Xmas (War is Over) by John Lennon was placed at ninth position, while Stay Another Day by East 17 was placed at the tenth spot.
