May 28, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Oprah Winfrey’s famous television talk show “The Oprah Winfrey Show” will go off air in 2011 after a successful running of twenty five years as she sets up her own cable TV network.

Getting a step closer to this, her charity “The Angel Network’, which stemmed from her popular daytime chat show, is also closing. The message on the charity’s official website read that it would not be accepting donations from May 24 onwards and was ending its grant making program.

The charity that started in the year 1998, got over $80 million from nearly 150000 donors and helped to fund more than 200 grants and projects in the United States as well as 30 other countries. It is said to have contributed in the building of more than 55 schools in 12 countries and has provided school uniforms and supplies to 18,000 South African children. It also worked in relief measures after the hurricane “Katrina’ and “Rita’ and helped more than 1,000 families rebuild their homes.

Starting next year, Winfrey will be hosting a new show from around the world called “Oprah’s Next Chapter”, which will be broadcast on the Oprah Winfrey Network, the cable TV venture she formed with Discovery Communications Inc. The 24-hour network starting next January is all set to be viewed in 70 million homes.
