The National Film Registry Includes Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’

jacksonJan 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The good news for the millions of fans of the late pop legend, is that Michael Jackson’s enigmatic ‘Thriller’ made it to the rich treasure trove of the National Film Registry. The masterpiece of Michael Jackson, ‘Thriller’ (1983) is the first music video to have found a well-deserved spot in the library of the US Congress. The great original pieces of art and entertainment, like very famous films and the like, are being stored in the National Audio-Visual Conservation Centre in Virginia.

The popular video, ‘Thriller’ which was a rage with the masses is in a precarious situation. To get hold of the copy of ‘Thriller ‘ is a difficult job for the officials in charge of the library. The pop video of horror and mysticism, is involved in a legal case as John Landis, the renowned Hollywood director, who also happens to be the music video director of ‘Thriller’. He had filed a case against Michael Jackson last year in January with the accusation the he was not paid the adequate royalties. Landis was also the co-writer of the script of the popular video. In the National Film registry, Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ earned its place along with a number of renowned flicks like ‘Dog Day Afternoon’ and ‘Jezebel.’

‘Thriller’ was included in the registry along with other twenty-four great films which have scaled the popularity charts. Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ was a phenomenon and it again made history, which is sure to have elated his fans worldwide. The library of the Congress, which hosts the National Film Registry, is touted to be the world’s biggest and richest archive of movies.
