Nov 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Highly acclaimed actor Leslie Nielson, who is best remembered for his roles in comedy roles in “Airplane!” and “The Naked Gun” passed away at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His representative John S Kelly announced the news to the media. Leslie Nielsen’s nephew Doug Nielsen said that the actor was admitted to hospital for 12 days owing to pneumonia complications. However, the star died on Sunday at the age of 84 leaving his friends and family mourn for his death.

Doug Nielsen told a reputed media source that Leslie Nielsen passed away with his friends and his family by his side. He said that in the last 48 hours, his infection had spread so much that the doctors could not save him. Doug Nielsen expressed his condolence at the unfortunate demise of his uncle and said that he was a real nice man with a pure heart. He said that the “Forbidden Planet” actor was one of his best friends whom he loved and he would miss dearly. After Leslie Nielsen’s death, his family also released a statement stating that the family is “saddened” by the passing of beloved actor who would probably be best remembered as Lt. Frank Drebin in “The Naked Gun” pictures. However, Leslie Nielsen’s fourth wife Barbaree Lee Nielsen said that the actor enjoyed more than 6 decades of his career in motion pictures and television.

Condolences are pouring in from all corners of Hollywood after the news regarding the sad demise of the actor has been announced. Leslie Nielson acted in more than 100 films which includes “The Poseidon Adventure” (1972) but through his successful comedy “Airplane”, the actor became a household name. Leslie Nielsen is survived by his fourth wife, two daughters and his brother.
