The Musical Duo Of Brooks And Dunn Set To Break Up

brooksdunnbrooks_dunn1Legendary country musicians Brooks and Dunn are to part ways after playing together for almost two decades. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have been performing together since 1990. They Declared that they would go their separate ways after a 2010 tour. On their official website, brooks-dunn.com, the musicians wrote that “we have agreed as a duo that “it was time to call it a day”. The message also added: “If you hear rumors, don’t just believe them, its just time.” The duo declared that they would release their greatest hits album on September 8, and perform a certain set of concerts, the Last Rodeo Tour, next year.

It was Tim DuBois, the founder of Arista Nashville Records, who brought the two legends together for the first time. Brooks and Dunn have released 10 studio albums, including “Waitin’ on Sundown”, “Borderline” and “Red Dirt Road”, and have sold more than 30 million records.

Brooks and Dunn are renowned for their high-energy stage shows. In n 2008, Brooks and Dunn were paired up with ZZ Top and Rodney Atkins for their Cowboy Town tour. Other recent tours include Australian country singer Keith Urban, fellow duo Montgomery Gentry and Grechen Wilson. Their 2005 Wild Tour featured fellow country duo Big and Rich.

In 2006, the duo opened with their power packed performance for the Rolling Stones at their Omaha, Nebraska show. The duo’s songs have been used by president George W. Bush as his official campaign songs in both his 2000 election and 2004 re-election campaigns. The duo’s “Only in America” was played after President Barack Obama gave his nomination acceptance in 2008.

The duo’s farewell tour and their subsequent split will be a great loss for the music world.
