Diamonds or not, huge engagement rings sure are a girl’s best friend. We could not agree more on this with the bunch of engagement rings exchanged by our very own Hollywood celebrities in 2010.

Without an iota of doubt Reese Whitherspoon, has the best engagement ring in Hollywood this year. It seems her fiancé, Jim Toth, an agent of Creative Artists Agency, wanted to make this engagement the most talked about engagement of the year. The couple had been dating since February 2010 and they announced their engagement on December 28th 2010. The 4 carat Ashoka cut diamond set on a diamond studded platinum band is estimated to have cost Toth a whopping $1.5 million. Toth had this ring custom-made for his “Legally Blond” bride-to-be from William Goldberg Diamond Corp. William Goldberg, the man himself, had crafted this unique ring for Witherspoon. According to reports, Toth was completely floored by the 62 displayed facets and rounded corners of this vintage Ashoka cut diamond.  

Hillary Duff’s fiancé, Mike Comrie the hockey player, sure knew how to please a woman. Their engagement ring, estimated of being around $1 million, is of 10-12 carat radiant cut. And it’s huge. Comrie had earlier gifted Duff a Mercedes Benz G-class SUV for her 20th birthday. So this engagement ring didn’t come as a surprise to Duff, we guess.

Jessica Simpson has done what very few women do; she went and bought her own engagement ring. This 4 carat ruby engagement ring has cost the star $100,000. Amidst rumors that her jobless fiancé, former NFL player Eric Johnson, could not have gifted her the ring, Jessica’s dazzling ring makes her feature in the list of the most exquisite engagement ring of 2010.

Featuring next on the list is LeAnn Rimes’ $85,000 5 carat oval diamond ring. The Eddie Cibrain and LeAnn Rimes engagement was definitely the talk of the town as it also made it to the list of the best Hollywood scandals. Eddie had personally designed the ring for LeAnn with some help from jeweler Brent Polacheck. The oval diamond in the centre is surrounded by tiny rose cut diamonds in rose gold fleur-de-lis in a platinum band.

Chad Ochocinco is not too far behind. This American footballer and reality star seems to have found the love of his life in Evelyn Lozada. After four months of courtship, Ochocinco and Lozada are now engaged. In one of her latest tweets, Lozada had uploaded a photo of her engagement ring. And it’s a stunner. This 10 carat diamond ring has four diamond studded bands and one huge circular diamond in the centre. It might not be a first for Lozada, who is also the ex-fiancée of Antonie Walker, the NBA star. 

We are tempted to keep our eyes open in 2011 to see many more huge engagement rings symbolizing some eternal and some short-lived love stories in Hollywood.
