Nicole Richie London, December 13 (ANI): Lady GaGa was provided with an etiquette note before she met the Queen recently.

All performers including the ‘Poker Face’ singer were given detailed instructions by the palace for this year’s Royal Variety show in Blackpool.

An advice went: “One does not speak until spoken to.”

They were also informed of the correct pronunciation of Ma’am - “as in jam, not ‘Mar’am’ as in smarm,” apparently.

American socialite Nicole Richie has posted the memo on Twitter.

She called the Queen a “diva”.

The Etiquette Notes include -

Please can all artists who are talking part in the Royal Line Up to meet Her Majesty take note of the following: -

One first addresses The Queen as “Your Majesty”

Please wait before offering your hand.

It is not mandatory to curtsey or bow

One does not speak until spoken to

After that, one can address Her Majesty as “Ma’am” as in jam not “Mar’am” as in smarm

You first address the Duke of Edinburgh as “Your Royal Highness” (ANI)
