Film Review The Last ExorcismAug 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) One of the most highly anticipated horror flicks of recent times, ‘The Last Exorcism’ releases today across America and people all over are scrambling the web for details, photos and reviews of the film. Considering that the plot of the movie had already been somewhat revealed on the web earlier, the film gathered huge expectations of the audience. With posters and clips that reminded the audience of films such as ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’ and ‘Exorcist’, the film takes a more serious and terrifying look at the practice of exorcism. The film has been strongly influenced by the likes of ‘Blair Witch Project’ and shot in documentary to give a more real and spine tingling experience for the audience.

The plot of the film revolves around a priest who lets one of his exorcisms be filmed. He undertakes the exorcism of a simple 16 year old daughter of a farmer and things begin to take a more sinister turn when the reality behind the ‘possession’ starts to reveal. Ashley Bell plays the role of Nell Sweetzer, the girl who is possessed by the demons. The actress has been in the news for the performance recently and for all those who managed to watch the film, will know that it is one of the best performances seen in the genre in recent years. She plays the role of the innocent farm girl with as much ease as the possessed body that contorts in painful ways to horrify the audience.

The priest, played by Patrick Fabian manages, manages to break the mold of the religious stereotypes that were seen in the earlier horror films that deal with the subject. The film is directed by Daniel Stamm and written by Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland.
