“The L word” ends after Episode 8 of Season 6March 9th, 2009 - 7:45 pm ICT by GD
“The L Word” shuts shop today after its final episode and six wonderful seasons. It may have had some blanks to fill up but it had served its purpose of entertainment with its immensely beautiful group of lesbians and bisexuals in Los Angeles. On tonight’s finale they will also wrap up the story behind who killed Jenny Schecter, who began the series when she entered the neighborhood. Before the finale episode there will be an hourlong sendoff special “The L Word Finale Special“.
The “L Word” had appeared soon after the hit gay series “Queer As Folk” and managed to attract a straight audience besides the usual gay audience. It was the first episodic drama to feature an all-Lesbian cast and has addressed issues like GLBT people, gay civil rights, closet celebrities, depression and transgender issues.
In the final season the show has taken on murder. Within the second minute of the sixth season’s premiere show Jenny Schecter (Mia Kirschner) was killed but who killed her will be revealed only on the season finale episode. Five former characters return to the show in the final episode. They are Tim (Eric Mabius), Peggy Peabody (Holland Taylor), Marina (Karina Lombard), Ivan (Kelly Lynch) and Carmen (Sarah Shahi). The two other stars of the show - Jennifer Beals (Flashdance) and Cybill Shepherd (The Last Picture Show, Moonlighting) - are also part of the curtain call on tonight’s show.
