colin-firth235Jan 31, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Stars were raining and reigning at the Shrine Exposition Center, Los Angeles on Sunday night where the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards 2011 was conducted. It was aired LIVE on TNT, at 8:00 p.m ET and 5:00 p.m PT. Audience witnessed some similarity at the Screen Actors Guild Awards when Colin Firth received the award for the Best Actor after he was bestowed with the same honor a few days back at the Golden Globe Awards for his outstanding role in “The King’s Speech”.

Fans had their fingers crossed for the actor was given a tough competition from junior peer Jesse Eisenberg from “The Social Network”. Coming to the female winner it was none other than Natalie Portman who received the trophy for “Black Swan”. Nicole Kidman who herself presented the award to actor Colin Firth had earned a nomination at the awards in the Best Female Actor category for “Rabbit Hole”. While fans had doubts between Mila Kunis, Helena Bonham Carter and Melissa Leo as the winner of the Female Actor in a Supporting Role, it was Melissa Leo who bagged the award for her superb performance in “The Fighter”. It was Christian Bale who emerged out to be Melissa Leo’s counterpart for the night for his role in “The Fighter”.

When it came to the award for the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture it was a tough battle fought between “The King’s Speech”, “The Fighter”, “The Social Network”, “Black Swan” and “The Kids Are All Right” which was ultimately won by “The King’s Speech”. The king is indeed ruling the scenario.
