Jay Leno As the show opens, [Jay Leno] jokes that he is glad that the balloon boy’s dad is going to jail, and adds that we should put all reality stars in jail. You may remember that the “balloon boy“, Falcon Heene, is the little boy whose parents, Richard and Mayumi Heene, called 911 and claimed that he had accidentally flown off in a balloon, only to later find out that he was hiding in the house the whole time and his parents had planned this hoax to get a spot on a reality TV show. Many rescue workers and concerned citizens had gotten involved and the dad apologized to these people at his sentencing. He was sentenced to 90 days and his wife to 20, but she does not have to serve hers until the dad is home.

“The Jay Leno Show’s” own Dan Fiderdy showed us clips of his excursions as a Christmas caroler. He knocked on a lady’s door, and with two friends, started a goofy rendition of “Jingle Bells” and the lady, drink in hand, didn’t seem very impressed. Another set of carolers, professionals, were taking over the street, and these boys pushed their way through to carol quickly trying to out sing the professionals. There was laughing and stumbling and tripping, it was hilarious! Dan challenged the pro leader to a sing-off, but he refused. Instead they had a plastic candy cane sword fight. A little girl comes outside and says, “Stop!! Stop the fighting, it’s Christmas, can’t you all just sing together?” And so, they did, and beautifully, they sang “Silent Night”. When they finished the last line, “Sleep in heavenly peace.”, Jay came outside, in his pajamas and night hat and yelled, “I would sleep in heavenly peace if you would all shut up!”

Next, Jay showed us his “Last Minute Gift Ideas”. The first was a singing Santa, and then he showed us stuffed animals which rolled over and over while laughing. The third gift was a pole dancer alarm clock, and then there was a stick, which used static electricity to make little silver strips of something similar to tinsel, float. Fourth, he showed us a pencil sharpener shaped like a cat, which “Meowed” when you stick the pencil in. Then, he showed us a toilet seat, from Modern Tribe. There was a plastic mask looking face rejuvenater, a Tarzan doll, and a tub of “Snow to Go” which expanded into a white and cold substance when added to water. He also had two dolls, which plugged into a USB port and did crunches when you were downloading. There was a bicycle which had a blender attached, so that when you pedal, it mixes your drink. The “Back-up Gun rack” was what Jay called the stupidest gift he had ever seen. It was a gun rack that attaches to the side of the bed.

Julie Scardina was the guest star on “The Jay Leno Show”. She is the Animal Ambassador at Sea World, and she brought a few animals for us to see. The first was a cougar kitten, which was very cute. When the cougar was sent back, she brought out two monkeys, called Gibbins, which got very excited and climbed all over Jay, swinging on his hair. Then one started opening a present on the stage, and Jay informed him that it is not Christmas yet. They were then sent back, and Julie told Jay to move the presents, as she brought out Buffy and Zander, two fresh water otters. After the otters, there were warm weather penguins. An arctic fox, which can take temperatures under 16 below zero, came out next. She was gorgeous! Small, with white, thick fur, she was very curious, especially when the reindeer started to come out, followed by a camel, and a baby kangaroo.

To end the show,”The African Children’s Choir”, dressed in traditional garments, performed “Silent Night”, “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”,and “The Little Drummer Boy” absolutely beautifully. Any proceeds that these children get for their shows goes to help hungry children in Kenya, and other underprivileged countries.
