Beverly Hills, Mar 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) ‘The Hurt Locker’ has bagged the Best Picture Award at the 82nd Academy Awards. With this win, the war film has managed to scoop up 6 awards out of its nine nominations. While accepting the award, the producers said that the movie was a dream for all the people on the team, as they lived with the story for a long time. They also said that they never imagined such kind of acclaimed success for the movie. They thanked all the members of the Academy. They especially thanked the financier of the movie who bet and believed on the movie, when nobody else did.
The Hurt Locker has proved to be one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2009, as it has scoped up a bagful of awards. The Hurt Locker had swept the 2010 BAFTA Awards also, where it won the best film, best director, original screenplay, editing, cinematography and the sound awards.
Besides critical acclaim, the movie has also managed to notch up a lawsuit as well. A soldier, who served in the Iraq war as an army bomb disposal expert, is suing the makers of the movie. Master Sgt. Jeffrey Sarver claims that the main lead of the movie is inspired by him, and as he was cheated, because he wasn’t paid his financial dues, so he had to take help from his lawyers. His attorney Geoffrey Fieger revealed on Wednesday that he had filed a lawsuit in the New Jersey federal court, on behalf of his client. It is not known how much money Master Sgt. Jeffrey Sarver is demanding in the lawsuit. His attorney also declined to reveal the exact financial figures.
