January 16th, 2010 - 5:37 pm ICT by ANINew York, January 16 (ANI): ‘The Hurt Locker,’ a film on Iraq war, has won the best picture gong at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
Also, the film’s helmer Kathryn Bigelow took home the best director’s prize.
Screenwriter-producer of the film Mark Boal thanked Bigelow, “for her singular vision, for her endless inspiration and for never taking no as an answer,” when he accepted the best picture award.
Similarly, Bigelow complimented Boal, when he accepted the best director’s honor.
“I stand here really because of one man, and that’s Mark Boal,” the New York Post quoted her as saying.
She added: “It’s wonderful to have this honor, but the recognition should also go to the men and women who are in the field to this day.”
However, James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ and Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” won the most awards.
‘Avatar’ won best action film title, apart from other awards. (ANI)
