guillermo-del-toro-006 Wellington, Jun 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) ‘The Hobbit’ director – Guillermo Del Toro has quit from the project. So he would be no longer directing the upcoming Hobbit movie. This news would certainly come as a major disappointment to all his numerous fans, as he is well known to weave a tale of magic and disbelief with his amazing directorial skills. The reason behind the decision to quit was the delays that the project was suffering.

Del Toro was pretty serious about the project, and had even shifted to New Zealand with his family, so that he could give his very best to the project. But the constant production delays got his goat, and he struck around as long as he could. Then when he couldn’t take it any longer, then he announced that he was quitting, as the delays were having an impact on his other projects and commitments also.

The director of movies like “Hellboy” and “Pan’s Labyrinth” Guillermo promised that he would continue to co-write the screenplay with the other writers such as Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens. The production delays are happening because MGM is having a finance crunch. However MGM has announced they are looking for a replacement for Guillermo on the project.
