A six-day festival of music, dance and drama is going to be held at the Kala Bharathi auditorium from the 8th of August. This event will be organized by- Visakha Music and Dance Academy.
The president of the VMDA C.S.N. Raju and secretary G.R.K. Prasad (Rambabu) informed the media that the event would begin on Saturday with a Kuchupudi dance ballet “Sivoham’ under the auspices of Vedanatam Venkatachalapathi of Kuchipudi. Followed by carnatic vocal by D. Seshachari and D. Raghavachari, popularly known as “Hyderabad Brothers’. Padma Shri Aruna Sairam (Chennai), reputed vocalist of Carnatic music, will perform on Monday.
On Tuesday and Thursday violin duet by Ganesh and Kumaresh (Chennai) and the verse drama “Sri Naadhudu’ in which “Gaana Gandharva’ Gummadi Gopalakrishana plays the lead will be held respectively.
The major highlight of the festival would be National Eminence Award Function at which Padma Vibhusham Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, flute maestro, will be conferred the “Nada Vidya Bharati’ title and the “Swarana Kamalam’ by former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on August 12.
