aw Beverly Hills, Mar 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The fashion statement at the 82nd Academy Awards was understated but chic all the same. People at the red carpet were overly conscious, and tried not to have a fashion ‘faux pas’ moment. There was a lot of gold and silver on display in the chosen dresses at the red carpet, and according to some fashion analysts, it almost seemed like the Olympics.

The Best Actress frontrunner of the 82nd Academy Awards - Sandra Bullock was dressed in silver embroidered Marchesa gown. A fashion analyst said that, it seemed as if she wore the gown, and the gown didn’t wear her. Her evening gown was simple, with minimum accessories, and the only spot of color was her bright red lips.

Most of the actresses went easy on the neck accessories, and appeared on the red carpet devoid of any neckpieces. However a notable exception was Kate Winslet. Most of the accessories were made up of diamonds and pearls and they were sourced from Chopard, Van Cleef & Arpels, Swarovski, Harry Winston and Fred Leighton.

Mo’Nique, who was tipped to win the Best Supporting Actress for her sensitive portrayal in Precious, was thankfully dressed in a long shimmering blue gown, that hid her hairy legs. She had earlier said that since she doesn’t like to shave, so she is not going to do it for the red carpet as well, but mercifully she was clad in a long gown, which hid her infamous hairy legs. Her hairy legs have been visible on the red carpet many times around, and they are also the source of mirth and amusement on the Internet.
