Jan 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ellen started “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” with a joke, saying that “NBC” had called her today wanting to give her show to “Jay Leno.” Then she said she was just kidding, that they had called her to remind her to announce the show, “American Idol” season will start tonight. Then she had four audience members to come up and play a game for tickets to the American Idol show. They all had to put puzzles of the judges faces together and whoever did so the quickest, won the tickets. They all got an Ipod Touch. Ellen then dances around the studio audience as if she had never had a back ache, which was good to see.

Then Ellen announced that “Simon Cowell” has announced that he is leaving American Idol. She said that he announced it on her first day, and she is trying not to take it personally. Then she laughed and said, “Nah, I am really sad to see him go, he helped make the show what it is, but he needed a change, so I will be happy to see him hosting “The Tonight Show” which, of course was another joke. Simon is, however, leaving Idol, to pursue another show. Ellen will be starting Hollywood Week on American Idol, and she laughed that she will have to be the mean one now. Ellen played a few clips from tonight’s show, and let me just say, it should be an…interesting season premiere.

Bette Midler was the first guest star on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”and she walked out looking absolutely fabulous. Bette said that her show, “The View” was ending, but she is not sad to see it go. She said that it was a lot of work. She also stated that she is so tired, that she just wants a break. She has recently done a performance for the “Queen Of England” and was so excited! She shared with us that she was the most frightened that she had ever been, but that she loved it. A little known secret about Bette, she gets stage fright so bad that it makes her sick, still. She said that when she has a few days off, then she will become so nervous that it makes her physically ill before getting on stage.

The next two guests, Lindsey and Angela were found on Youtube. They were singing a duet and the Youtube link was brought to Ellen’s attention. These girls were so alive and funny, it was a thrill to watch them interview. When they took the stage, however, I was in awe. They were great, a little nervous, and their voices shook at some moments, but they were really good. Ellen gave them tickets to see the “Grammy Awards”

Chef Tal Ronnen came out to share his “Gardein Beefless Stew” with Ellen. He is a Vegan chef which you may have seen on other talk shows, such as “Rachael Ray.” The recipe for his stew can be found here..

Star of “Modern Family” Eric Stonestreet, came dancing out onto the show next. Eric plays “Cameron” on the show. He was in the audience of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” 7 years ago, with his mom, and Ellen went back and found a clip of that show. It was amazing to see how much Ellen has changed.

The show was terrific today, I cannot wait to see American Idol tonight!
