“The Day The Earth Stood Still” Featured on AMC On Its 60th Anniversary

earthJan 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Remember the 1951 sci-fi flick “The Day The Earth Stood Still” that stole the hearts of millions of people with the amazing use of special effects. Movie buffs were in for a huge treat last night when the highly-popular movie was aired on AMC as it is celebrating its 60th anniversary. As expected, the 1951 movie received wide viewership as large number of audiences tuned up to watch the movie on AMC which thoroughly entertained the viewers once again.

The movie which dates back to the 1951 did not make use of the special effects. However, the story line was more than enough to hold on to the audience. Horror films have always attracted more viewers while sci-fi movies had always remained a favorite among computer-wizards. This movie, is an amalgam of the two which contributed to its huge popularity. People who had watched the original version of the movie of the 1950s were highly excited with the news that the movie was getting aired on television. “The Day The Earth Stood Still” has had a huge audience in the past and it again regained the same viewership when it was aired last night.

It could be suggested that last night’s AMC offering was a great opportunity for the viewers to get a taste of the sci-fi movies of the yesteryears. With almost no special effects, this sci-fi movie created stir among the audiences. The movie “The Day The Earth Stood Still” which released way back in 1951 was indeed a good example of entertaining sci-fi movies sans the special effects.
