The Chloe Prince Story: ‘She’s The Man!
July 22nd, 2009 - 8:27 pm ICT by GD ( 3 comments )
While on the surface, sexually progressive America would probably not pay particular attention to the girlie duo of Chloe and her ‘wife’ Rene Prince, an Ohio couple who go through a typical American way of life, juggling professional and personal lives while trying to bring up their two kids, the twist in the tale steps in when confronted with the fact that attractive blonde Chloe was in fact, born a man. ABC’s “Primetime: Family Secrets” with Juju Chang, now explores the incredible transsexual journey of Ted to Chloe Prince at 10 p.m on July 21st.
32 year-old Chloe is a real life case of a certified, genuine trans gender who’s working on making her life as mainstream as possible, post a gender-reassignment surgery that altered unmistakably not just her own life, but also that of her wife, whom she had married while still a man.
Born Ted Prince, he apparently had a rather normal childhood on the outside, being only too aware of the traditional values and gender-specific expectations that his conventionally straight parents had of him, although internally he confessed to always knowing that he was a woman trapped in a man’s body. Superficially conforming to all the aspects of the male dominated gender role that was socially expected of him, he struggled with his issues of sexual identity crisis, that manifested itself in his affinity for women’s clothing.
A closet cross-dresser, his secret life continued to be in social denial, even while he married confidante Rene, with whom he had two kids, Logan and Barry. Diagnosed in 2003 with a mutated genetic condition that caused the biological anomaly of the presence of two ‘X’ chromosomes and a single ‘Y’ chromosome in him, his life long struggle for gender identity had finally received clinical recognition as a medical condition, and not merely a sexual deviation, that had haunted him for most of his life.

I missed the airing of this episode but hopefully can catch it on the net or a rerun.
Not to nitpick but most of the uses of “Man” and “Woman” in this article should be replaced with “Male” and “Female” being that they do not mean the same thing but are being used as if they do. No one is “born a man.” Not in a biological scene anyhow.
