The Grimm Brothers fairy tales, well known the world over for their appeal to children and adults alike, are now being adapted for the stage by Jeff Carey. The universal appeal of the tales of Grimm Brothers has not diminished over the years. In fact, more and more people are discovering the magical world of these tales. The latest stage adaptation is named the “Grimm Pajamas”. It is a musical for children written by Jeff Carey and the music has been created by Jessica Jackson. The play is soon going to open at the Creede Repertory Theatre. The musical attempts to explore the world of the fairy tales and the hidden messages and layers of meanings that is inherent in these texts.
The Brothers Grimm had changed the nature of western literature by creating a noble world of wild animals and fairies and elves. The greatness of these tales of imagination, fantasy and morals is that they transcend age barriers. Though they were created keeping in mind the demands and preferences of children but over the years they have become extremely popular with fairy tale enthusiasts and students across the globe. This current musical- “Grimm Pajamas” attempts to sketch the portrait of an evening inside the bedroom of the brothers when they were very small themselves.
“Grimm Pajamas“- with the brothers singing the fairy tales- have been performed in 15,000 children schools and educational institutes across Colorado. It was appreciated everywhere, both for the performance of the actors and the music that was created keeping in mind the children and their world of make-belief. The musical now hopes to reach a larger audience cutting across America.
