the-bridgeJuly 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The CBS audience have more cop drama to look forward to as the latest offering promises to be a tad different from the rest. ‘The Bridge’ premiered on the network on July 10 and it follows the life of a cop named Frank Leo played by Aaron Douglas. In spite of the low expectations of the audience from a cop drama, ‘The Bridge’ has managed to win the hearts of the audience and critic alike.

The drama stands out from the rest of the cop dramas by avoiding the cliches like humorous one-liners and extraordinary characters. The seriousness of the series and its portrayal of reality has appealed to the critics who have called it a fair reflection of police work. The character of Frank Leo is also not an extraordinary hero but a real-life cop who tries to use strong-arm tactics to get his way. He appeals to the audience for the nature of the work that he does.

Frank Leo is shown arranging for the funeral of a former cop who committed suicide. He is seen fighting against his department to complete the meaningful work. He also becomes the union leader of the police force. His partner Tommy Dunn is played by Paul Popowich. He is seen trying to protect Frank Leo and warns him to be more careful. Frank Leo’s father, who used to be a union organizer earlier explains to him that it is essential to keep the people happy.

In a scenario where the union leaders across the country are being bashed, ‘The Bridge’ has been called a bold move by some critics. According to some sources, it is loosely based on the life of the Craig Bromell who was the former head of the Toronto Police union.
