Sep 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The audience saw the last episode of “As The World Turns” yesterday which was aired on CBS. The show debuted on April 2, 1956 and after 5 decades the show finally wrapped up yesterday which served as a launching pad for many veteran celebrities like Martin Sheen, Lauryn Hill, Dana Delaney, Emmy Rossum, Parker Posey and Julianne Moore. Barbara Bloom, senior vice president of daytime programming for CBS in one of her interviews to a reputed media source said that the true “legacy” of “As The World Turns” will be the fictional characters and stories of a “small” Midwest town that resonated every day with millions of viewers over so many generations.
The senior vice president also added that “As The World Turns” became a treasured daytime “institution” over the years. The channel officials reported that the drama will be replaced by a chat show “The Talk” from the next week. However, it is obvious that the audience will not able to erase the memories of their favorite show. The last episode of “As The World Turns” saw the Doctor Bob Hughes retiring from the hospital. Barbara and Paul decides to part their ways.
The show also saw Casey leaving for law school and Chris proposes to Katie. Lucinda and John gets back their relationship and Janet asks Jack to be Lorenzo’s Godfather. One of the tragic moment of the show was when Luke bids adieu to Noah and the audience already know that he lost Reid in the last week’s episode. Kathryn Hays, who plays the role of Kim Hughes in the series said in one of her interviews that the last day of shooting was “poignant” and what seemed so “incredible” to her was that the whole cast members shot the movie in pretty much order that day.
