Testament front man a part of Smithsonian Museum exhibit
August 21st, 2010 - 8:05 pm ICT by Sampurn WireAugust 21, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):TESTAMENT vocalist and Native American activist Chuck Billy is happy to announce the news of his inclusion in the world renowned Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian’s new exhibition. This exhibition is called “Up Where We Belong: Native Musicians in Popular Culture”.
The exhibition is being held at the National Mall, right on the second-floor level of the Sealaska Gallery. It is open till the 2nd of January, 2011. Chuck Billy said that he was humbled and proud to be documented as a Native American contribution to the Arts and Music.
The Smithsonian official press release, said that “Up Where We Belong” tells the stories of the Native artist along with histories and also provides visitors the chance to listen to music and also discover artists with whom these outstanding musicians collaborated.
Visitors will also learn about the musical greats who stimulated these artists, as well as the increasing number of modern performers who followed in their path.
The Testament frontman, Chuck Billy is featured in the “Encore” section of the presentation that features artists who symbolize the span of Native attainment in the conventional music over the past fifty years as per the Smithsonian. Other musicians that are featured in this division are saxophonist Jim Pepper and singer Debora Iyall.
