Washington, Dec 12 (ANI): Terrence Howard and James Earl Jones have signed on to star in director Debbie Allen’s Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.”
The duo will be joined by Phylicia Rashad and Anika Noni Rose.
The latest production will mark the first time that the play will be led by an all-African-American cast be authorized by Williams’ estate.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is set to open at New York’s Broadhurst Theatre on March 6, 2008.
Playing the lead in his Broadway debut will be Oscar nominee Howard, who takes on the role of the haunted, alcoholic Brick, an ex-football player who rebuffs the advances of his wife Maggie, to be played by Rose.
It also tells of his tortured relationship with his domineering father Big Daddy, to be played by Jones.
Rashad will be playing Big Daddys wife Big Mama. The other two main roles in the dysfunctional family are still being cast, reports Variety.
The play is being is presented by Front Row Prods. and produced by Stephen C. Byrd. (ANI)
