The renowned opera singer, one of the remaining Three Tenors, compared the 1-million-dollar accolade to winning “the Nobel music prize”.
The 68-year-old said the award was “without hesitation the highest and the most emotional” one of his 40-year career, reports the BBC.
The veteran performer collected his prize from the King of Sweden, saying he would use the money to create a new award in honour of Nilsson’s most famous work. (ANI)
