orange-8-5Nov 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Telugu movie ‘Orange’ released today and the reviews are already in. With Bollywood star Genelia in the mix and south Indian heartthrob Ram Charan Teja coming fresh from a blockbuster hit, the film was anticipated to be the biggest Telugu draw this season. The film has been directed by ‘Bommarillu’ director Bhaskar and produced by Nagendra Babu.

The plot of the film revolves around two lovers, played by the lead actors, who search for love in the volatile young society of today. Though an out an out comedy in the first half, the second half of the film has some amounts of emotional drama that adds depth to the film. Critics have given the film a mixed reception and some added that the film seemed to be slow in the last 40 minutes. One critic added that the film suffers from the ‘Bommarillu’ hangover of Bhaskar slightly and thus the plot is somewhat confusing. Both Genelia and Ram Charan Teja’s acting has been praised and the film’s comic timing has also been well appreciated. Shahzahn Padamsee also makes her Telugu debut in the film and her role is limited to the flashback of Ram Charan Teja’s life. She and Ram Charan Teja are seen as a couple that eventually break up when the man does not want to sacrifice his friends for her. Critics felt that her performance was impressive considering that it was her debut.

The huge hype over the film might have seen the theaters fill up on the first day of release but the real test for the big budget Telugu film would be to see through the rest of the week. Since more critical reviews are expected to crop up over the weekend, it is impossible to determine presently whether Ram Charan Teja will have another roaring box office run.
