Television Networks Gear Up To Cover Michael Jackson Memorial Service

michaeljacksontickets1_d_20090706212649He had never shied away from the media ever in his life, having being in the glare of the arc lights all through his life; now, in his death too, the media are gearing up to provide a full blown coverage for Michael Jackson’s memorial service. The late pop icon is absolutely going to command unprecedented media coverage, all through Tuesday, the 7th of July.

All the major network giants like CNN, MSNBC, E! Entertainment, TV Guide Network and TV One, besides a host of cable news and entertainment channels, are going to be present at the Staples Center on July 7, to cover the event live. The event is scheduled to kick off from 10 a.m. PST.

This is a very sad time for everyone who loved MJ; in 6 days time, he was supposed to embark on his musical sojourn once more, with his 50 day comeback tour in London. Now, he will be getting worldwide media attention while he is remembered in his memorial service.

Chris Jansing will begin the live coverage for MSNBC at 8 a.m. Fox News will have Shephard Smith hosting the event and is supposed to commence at 9 a.m. CNN, with Anderson Cooper, Larry King and Don Lemon as anchors, will start at 9 a.m likewise. (CNN is also supposed to beam the memorial service on its sister networks HLN, CNN International and CNN en Espanol).

NBC will broadcast a ’split edition’ of the Staples Center event on its show “Today”, which will be hosted by Meredith Vieira in Los Angeles. The live coverage for the network, anchored by Brian Williams will begin at 10 a.m. The “Early Show” on CBS will telecast the live event from the venue and will be hosted by Maggie Rodriguez and Harry Smith.

88 movie theaters across 31 states, including the Grauman’s Chinese in Hollywood, will be screening the Michael Jackson Memorial service.
