New York, June 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Amber Portwood, star of the MTV show “Teen Moms”, has pleaded guilty to first and third degree of felony domestic battery.

She has admitted to having assaulted Gary Shirley, the father of her daughter. The totality of the attack was captured on camera. In addition, she deliberately pulled out of a drug rehabilitation program, after having been arrested last December for drug and probation violations. For this reason, she has received a 5-year sentence to prison, which she will probably serve in jail for approximately two years, spending the rest of the sentence on probation.

Her decision has left many fans of the show astonished, as she has preferred hard time to rehab, and she also has to leave her young daughter Leah behind. She has also admitted to US media that she suffers from depression and has also tried to commit suicide.

Amber’s side of the story will be broadcasted on TV as part of Teen Moms’ final season. She had stated on the show–months prior to her hearing that her intention was to move on and get past this erratic chapter in her life to create a better one for both her daughter and Gary, her child’s father.
