New York, June 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Reality TV star Amber Portwood has pleaded guilty to assault charges. The “Teen Mom” was at an Indiana courtroom on Thursday where she pleaded guilty to two counts of felony domestic battery. On the charges brought against the star, she could face up to three years in jail and a fine of $10,000 for beating Gary Shirley who is the father of her child. Amber did not get the maximum sentence though because she has reached a plea deal with the prosecutors. Her sentence has been described as a slap on the wrist.

The judge who ruled on the case gave Amber two years suspended jail sentence. Judge David Happe of the Madison County court also placed Amber on two years probation. Two other charges - felony neglect of a dependent and misdemeanor domestic battery- were dropped by the judge.

Amber denied that she fought with Gary. Unfortunately for her the whole incident was caught on camera because it happened on reality television. She told E! News that, “So, of course the cop came over and asked us what was going on. But we were not fighting. Gary and I haven’t had a major fight in two years.”
