Ted Koppel Might Be The New Host Of ABC’s “This Week”

tedJan 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Well known broadcast journalist Ted Koppel who is best known for hosting ABC’s news program ‘Nightline’, might soon make a comeback on ABC. According to certain reports, the much acclaimed news veteran is one of the possible candidates who is being considered for ABC’s Sunday morning show “This Week”.

If Ted Koppel takes up the job then he will be succeeding George Stephanopoulos, who will now be seen as the host of weekday morning show “Good Morning America.” Meanwhile, an online portal had reported recently that the 69 year old news man has already been assigned the job by ABC network and would be paying $1 million as the annual salary. However, the report was retracted later and added that the network was still in the process of negotiation regarding the new host for the Sunday morning show.

At the same time, a spokesperson of the network has added that ABC is has not reached a decision as yet and as a result no negotiations or deal has been offered to anybody till now. Meanwhile, the other candidates who are being considered for the job include “Nightline” co-host Terry Moran, White House reporter Jake Tapper and PBS’ Gwen Ifill.

Ted Koppel had been associated with ABC’s ‘Nightline’ since the news program started airing in March 1980 and continued to serve as its anchor until his retirement in the year 2005. Since then, the veteran journalist has worked for Discovery Channel and made documentaries before dissociating from the channel in 2008. Presently, he works as a news analyst for BBC and National Public Radio.
