Teacher Emma Johnson, Mother of Whoopi Goldberg Dies

Sep 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Whoopi Goldberg made a shocking announcement during the season premiere of ‘the View’ this morning, when she shared with the world that her mother, Emma Johnson, had died on August 29 of a stroke.

Goldberg had been living in London, working on a stage production of ‘Sister Act’ during the summer, but had to rush back to America, leaving the show on a Friday, the 27th of August and her mother died two days later.

Whoopi gave viewers a peek into the life of her mother, who had a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at New York University, and described Johnson as “one of the great women and one of the best people I’ve had the privilege of knowing.”

Whoopi went on to explain to the audience, “I’m not sad, because she had a good time. My mother was a great adventure person, so she loved to go on adventures and my brother and I made sure that her life was full and rich.”

Although Whoopi said that ,“I think I’m just sad sometimes that I think, ‘Who will love me the way that she did?’ “ she went on to say, “But I realize that my brother and I have each other and so we’re ok.”
