November 6, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Taylor Swift is on cloud nine at the moment. Yes, the country singer has recently released a single album called ‘Speak Now’ and it has gone on to become an instant success. Taylor Swift’s new album swiftly sold off more than 1 million copies within the very first week of hitting the stores. This album might be well on its way to become the next big thing in the music industry.
The 20-year-old country music star recently revealed that some of the songs in the album were dedicated to a few men in her life. When asked to clarify, Taylor said that the men will understand which song is meant for whom when they hear them. Selling one million copies gives this album the rare honor to go to Platinum. This is not the first time that something like this has happened, Lil Wayne made a similar record in 2008 with his album as well.
Taylor is the fourth female artist to break the one million record sales barrier within a week. She joins the elite club of Britney Spears, Whitney Houston and Norah Jones. The albums sales for Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now’ accounted for more than 18% of the total music sales this week.
Music industry experts suggest that the sales of Taylor Swift’s album got an added boost because of the clever marketing campaign that followed suit. The marketing team for ‘Speak Now’ arranged for exclusive deluxe version of the album at certain deluxe stores to increase the sales and the audience responded. The deluxe version of the album includes music videos as well as the bonus tracks.
