Los Angeles, Oct 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Taylor Swift’s latest album Speak Now had confirmed the 20-year-old as one of the most prolific singers of her generation. The new album might go Platinum in just the first week of it release and if that happens before next Wednesday, the singer will be privileged to be among the handful of singers that have achieved that feat in their lives.
Already the album is on track to become the highest debut sales album of the year based on its current sales. The CEO of the Big Machine Label Group, Scott Borchetta, confirmed the sales. His organization is responsible for Taylor’s new album label and he said “We shipped 2 million copies this week and we always felt we could do 700,000 to a million”. That statement was made on late Wednesday shortly after the album went on sale.
Eminem’s “Recovery” album has the enviable record as the best first-week sale album with some 741,000 sales in the first week. However Billboard predicts that Taylor’s album can sell some 800,000 to 900,000 copies in the first week to become the best first-week selling album this year. If Taylor’s album however reach the million mark as some people have predicted, it will be the first time since Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III album in 2008.
