American country pop singer Taylor Swift has got a grand start in the New Year as she has been able to retain the top position on Billboard Hot 200 on the first week of the year. There were a number of releases during the holiday’s season but the New Year started with no new releases and this came as an advantage for Swift.
Her country music album titled ‘Speak Now’ has sold yet another 77,000 copies in this week, which is facing slow sales. This is a 72% drop from the Christmas season sale but still it rules the top position.
Other popular albums like Susan Boyle’s ‘The Gift’, Christmas compilation of ‘Glee’ and Jackie Evancho’s ‘O Holy Night’ have made their exit from the top 10 list. They have the second, third and fourth slots vacant for Eminem’s ‘Recovery’, Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ and Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday’.
Kanye West, Katy Perry, Daft Punk and Bruno Mars have returned to the top 10 ranking with their ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’, ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘Tron Legacy’ soundtrack and ‘Doo - Wops & Hooligans’ respectively.
West has made it No 5, 6th position has gone to Daft Punk, Bruno has moved to No 7 and Katy Perry at No 9.
