Taylor Swift Beats Britney Spears’ Download Record With “Fairytale”

Taylor SwiftJan 31, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Taylor Swift has broken the record of Britney Spears as her recent single, “Today Was a Fairytale” becomes the best first-week download sales. The single sold 325,000 copies and has become number 1 on Billboard’s Digital songs chart and number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 according to Nielsen Soundscan.

“Fairytale” is a song from the romantic comedy movie “Valentine’s Day”, directed by Garry Marshall which is going to be released on February 12, 2010. This movie gave the talented Taylor Swift a chance to reach the zenith of success. Her song “You Belong with Me” was warmly received by music lovers last year. However, unlike “Fairytale,” it took 16 weeks to get so much hype.

“Fairytale” outdid Britney Spears’ comeback single, “Womanizer,” and broke the digital download record set by her. Britney Spears’ single debuted in October 25, 2008. It had sold 286,000 copies.

Taylor Swift is going to perform her recent hit “Today Was a Fairytale” at the Grammy Awards. She is nominated for a host of awards, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year as well as Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and many more. In an interview Taylor Swift said she is looking forward to performing in the Grammy Awards. She said she is not yet sure what is going to happen in the award ceremony. However, she said she is really glad that she is nominated in eight categories. She added that getting nominated for so many awards is a “gift in itself.” For knowing the rest she is ready to wait and see what happens in Los Angeles.
