Nashville, Tenn., Nov. 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The American pop singer Taylor Swift created history at the 43rd Annual CMA Awards held yesterday at the Sommet Center in Nashville. Taylor is now the youngest person to have won the Country Music Association’s (CMA) ‘Entertainer of the Year’ award. This is also the first time in one whole decade, that this award has been given out to a solo female act.
The night proceeded with Taylor winning not one but all the four awards for which she had been nominated, namely, “Album of the Year”, “Music Video of the Year”, “Female Vocalist of the Year” and “Entertainer of the Year”. The 19-year old snapped away the female vocalist award which has been won by Carrie Underwood for the last three consecutive years. Her winning the entertainer of the year award spoiled Kenny Chesney’s chance of winning the title for the fourth consecutive year. (Kenny has been winning it for three consecutive years from 2006).
Swift, amidst tears, said, “I’ll never forget this moment because everything that I have ever wanted has just happened to me.” She went on to call her band to join her, which got the audience shouting, “We love you, Taylor”. Even her father was seen shedding tears of joy in the audience. In her speech Taylor also said that all the people in the categories had “opened up for her this year”, and went on to thank them profusely. When she won the album of the Year awards for her album ‘Fearless’, she said that the album was her personal “diary” and thanked her voters for loving “her diary”.
The singer started the show taking the audience in a daze with her song, “Forever and again”. The singer, did a number of antics during her performance including throwing a chair from the stage and sliding down a pole.
