“American Idol” season 5 winner, Taylor Hicks, was back on the show on the 29th of April. This time round he was here to cheer the top 5 contestants of this season on the results day. Hicks performed “Seven Mile Breakdown,” which is his latest single from the album, “The Distance.” He gives the finalist a lot of advice and according to him the selection of the right song is the most important way to crack the competition by gaining maximum audience vote.

When Hicks was performing in the fifth season of “American Idol”, he had won over his fellow contestant, Katharine McPhee, with over 63.4 million votes cast in total. The most amazing fact about Taylor Hicks is that he is the oldest contestant to have won the reality show. When he won the show he was 29. Inspite of his age most of his fans feel that he is a lot of fun and he seemed to enjoy every bit of the silliness while being a part of “American Idol”.

Taylor Hicks is a native of Alabama and he has planned to ship his new single “Seven Mile Breakdown” to country radio stations next month. Hicks made his debut with a self-titled album which sold more than a million copies. The first number of his latest album, “The Distance” released last month, is “What’s Right Is Right.” The song has already hit the 22nd position in the Hot AC charts. “Seven Mile Breakdown,” is the second number in the same album and Hicks performed it live for the first time for “American Idol.”
