London, May 12 (IANS) It is yet to hit movie screens but acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino is already considering a prequel as well as a sequel to his forthcoming World War II movie “Inglourious Basterds”.
The director has explained that a sub-plot, which was ditched from the film, could become a separate picture, Contactmusic.com reports.
“I have a half-written prequel ready to go if this movie’s a smash,” he said.
The story involves a group of African American soldiers trapped behind enemy lines.
Not only this, the “Pulp Ficiton” director is also pondering the possibility of a sequel to the movie.
He explained how as a child he often had revenge fantasies relating to the Ku Klux Klan, and said the same might form the basis of the sequel.
“Once the Basterds get through with Europe, they could go to the [American] south and do it to the Kluxers in the ’50s,” he said.
Starring Brad Pitt, “Inglourious Basterds” tells the tale of a group of Jewish soldiers who embark on a revenge mission in Nazi-controlled Europe. The film will release at the Cannes Film Festival May 2009.
