Tania Zaetta denies drunken, racial slur allegations
March 23rd, 2011 - 4:29 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Mar 23 (ANI): Australian actress Tania Zaetta has denied allegations that she was drunk and had hurled racial slurs at bouncers of a nightclub.
Zaetta, 40, who is also a Bollywood actress, said to Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O on their Sydney breakfast radio show that she will prove her innocence and clear her name.
“I strongly deny any charges and will protest my innocence in court,” the Herald Sun quoted her as saying.
“I just arrived back into Australia and shot an ad campaign with a couple of great friends and headed up to the Gold Coast that evening or late that afternoon to see my dad and he was arriving after his cancer treatment.
“I was not at any point refused entry to the venue, nor was I affected by alcohol.
“In fact the venue’s website even has a picture of me on that night already inside the venue, having a photo taken with some friends, taken by a photographer,” she revealed.
The actress was arrested on March 21 and charged with causing a public nuisance and obstructing police after a disturbance outside the Gold Coast’s Vanity Nightclub.
She was given a 400-dollar on-the-spot fine for allegedly refusing to leave the nightclub, and had to spend several hours in the cells before being released.
She denied allegations from club bouncers that she directed racist slurs at them.
“That’s just very hurtful and very disappointing for me considering that I went to a very small country school in Victoria made up of classmates, mostly of whom were from ethnic backgrounds and ethnic origin and many of whom Aboriginal origin,” she said.
“I’m a law abiding citizen, I’m doing everything correctly so I can’t comment on things right now. I look forward to it going to court and professing my innocence,” she added. (ANI)
