Tania Zaetta accused of racial slurs by club bouncers
March 22nd, 2011 - 1:09 pm ICT by ANISydney, Mar 22 (ANI): Australian actress Tania Zaetta, who stars in Bollywood movies, has been accused by bouncers at a nightclub in Australia of being abusive and of hurling racial slurs at them.
Zaetta, 40, was seen arguing with doormen and police outside Vanity nightclub, one of the many neon-lit hot spots among the palm trees, tourist tat and kebab shops on Orchid Avenue, Surfers Paradise.
The actress had been refused entry into the club after bouncers suspected she was intoxicated. But Zaetta has strenuously denied that she was drunk.
According to Fairfax Media, a spokesman for Vanity’s management said the bouncers claimed that Zaetta became abusive and hurled racial slurs at them.
The police arrived at the scene and Zaetta was arrested and made to spend the rest of the night in the Surfers Paradise watch house.
She was charged with obstructing police and causing a public nuisance, charges she intends to defend in court on April 4.
Zaetta’s lawyer, John Weller, made an urgent request for security TV footage to be preserved to aid in his client’s defence.
“Any inference or suggestion through media reports that alcohol has played any role in this matter are ludicrous and baseless,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted him as saying.
The police held Zaetta for several hours, and she was released before dawn.
“Ms Zaetta has always conducted herself with integrity, dignity and with respect to those around her,” her manager, Andrew Taylor, said in a statement. (ANI)
